From the folks over at Thinkgeek:

No need to build a tea dispenser into your existing astromech droid (there could be tea and oil mix-ups if his wires get fried), because there’s this R2-D2 ceramic teapot to the rescue! No superfluous special features to speak of: it holds tea and pours tea. Or you can use it to hold and pour other liquids, if you’re not a tea person. We won’t judge. Either way, it’s an adorable addition to your kitchen, and a flat-out necessity for a Jedi tea party.

Behind-the-Scenes With the Stunts and Madness From ‘Fury Road’

You know what? Summer movie season is over. Mad Max: Fury Road won, and that is that. Granted, Summer may have not even begun yet, but it would take a miraculous film to one-up this spectacular movie. But much like most of us who saw Fury Road, you must be thinking what I am thinking:

How did they do that?

Well, this short little video gives insight into some of the more insane aspects of Fury Road, and will make you even more impressed by the film by the time you are done watching how they actually made it. It was real-life anarchy in the desert. You pretty much weren’t watching a movie.

Dolls Get Sunburned As Example To Kids

nivea

A Brazilian ad agency has come up with a creative way to teach kids about the dangers of sun exposure. It’s made dolls with skin that “burns” in sunlight unless protected.

The campaign, to promote Nivea, involves male and female dolls coated in a material that is sensitive to ultraviolet light. Unless the skin is either covered or coated in sunscreen, it gradually turns redder and redder. The painful looking shade is strongest in the areas of skin most likely to burn on a child.

The agency passed out the dolls free of charge to families on a beach in Rio De Janeiro, along with bottles of sunscreen. The idea is that kids play with the dolls and learn the importance of applying sunscreen, making them more likely to either remember to apply it to themselves, or at least not scream and shout when their parents try to interrupt their play to top them up.

There are a couple of limitations to the effectiveness of the dolls. One is that they have a fixed smile that remains in place even when they are apparently in burning agony. The other is that the setup means that applying sunscreen after the event appears to immediately undo the effects of the burning, which isn’t exactly how things work in the real world.

Sarah Cain, whom we featured a few times on GAS for her amazing costumes, recently completed her Inquisitor cosplay and took part of a “Dragon Age: Inquisition” photoshoot with a few of her friends. A lot of people say great costumes are expensive to craft, but Sarah knows how to do it for cheap: the whole outfit cost her under $100, and the entire thing is made from real leather!
