Bashir Sultani: Geeky, Salty, Art
In the past, we’ve shown you some geeky artwork that uses a variety of unusual mediums. But you’ve never seen anything quite like what artist Bashir Sultani can do with little more than a flat surface, a couple of tools, and a salt shaker.
Darth Vader? Check.
Optimus Prime? Yup!
And check out this very detailed portrait of Link!

Foogos: Pop Culture Logos Made of Food [Picture Gallery]
[insert lame joke about playing with food]
Mario, made of chewing gum. (Which now comes in brown--what?)
Now that that’s out of the way: Foogos is one guy, a freelance graphic artist, who happens to like making stuff out of food. And he likes to make stuff he likes, which means there are a lot of old-school TV shows and movie logos, comics, NHL and MLB foogos. We approve.
Here are a handful of the finished Foogos, including a perfect TMNT pizza and a sort-of adorably pastel Ghostbusters logo. You can see more on the Foogos Flickr stream, and check out some behind-the-scenes action on the site.
Don’t Forget: Tick tock goes the clock – Doctor Who Finale Tonight!
For those of you who have been following this season of Doctor Who, you might be on the edge of your seats awaiting his fate. Tomorrow Tonight (2011/10/01) is the season finale, an episode titled “The Wedding of River Song,” and for me at least, the creepy, sing-songy “tick tock goes the clock” from last weekend’s preview has been running through my head all week.
It was announced just recently that Season 7 won’t be starting until autumn of 2012 (though there will be the usual Christmas special), so get your Who fix in while you can.
Though this season has been criticized by some for having an overly complicated mythology, definitely departing in style from Davies’ tendency towards monster-of-the-weeks, the series still seems to be as strong as ever, with viewers having embraced the eleventh Doctor in the form of Matt Smith since his debut last season. And if you’re not yet a fan? Well, there’s still hope.
What’s next for the Doctor? Well, there is always the potential for crossovers. After all, Moffat has another popular project going on now, and who knows what goes on in his head.
The finale episode airs tonight both on the BBC and in the U.S. on BBC America.
