Could Star Fox Really do a Barrel Roll In Space? [Science Video]

DO A BARREL ROLL! Or at least, try…? The iconic move from Star Fox seems so easy, just press a button and BOOM. The ship rolls. But HOW? Barrel rolls in atmosphere are easy to execute with the use of ailerons, but in space, it’s a different issue altogether. With no atmosphere (and no thrusters), how does one Barrel Roll like Star Fox in space?

Final Fantasy VI Opera – “Aria di Mezzo Carattere” (Celes’ Theme) [Video]

A Final Fantasy VI Opera by Jillian Aversa:

This emotional arrangement from the legendary RPG Final Fantasy 6 features my Italian rendition of the classic opera aria scene, where the character Celes (dressed as the opera singer Maria) pines for her lost love. Exclusive to this YouTube version of the song are the talents of special guest Tina Guo on cello! You may have heard the English version of this arrangement, “Till We Meet Again,” on the OC ReMix album “Balance & Ruin” – but without the live string section or Tina.

What Have You ‘Pikmin’ Done? [Comic]

Editor’s note: If you’ve never played Pikmin, you might not get this one.

pik

The thing about playing Pikmin is, you have to deal with the fact that you may very well be the cause of many, many deaths. Though normal games help us know that, we rarely think about that during Pikmin.

But now you will. You will think about those poor little souls you ruined every day.

AMAZING TARS Cosplay (from Interstellar) Looks Just Like the Real Thing! [Video]

After seeing Chris Nolan’s movie “Interstellar”, Iain Heath, also known as “Ochre Jelly” online for his amazing LEGO creations, decided that a mere LEGO tribute (like he usually does) would be insufficient, so instead he embarked on a 3-month project to create a life-size TARS cosplay replica of the movie’s beloved robot.

TARS was unveiled at Emerald City Comic Con in March 2015, where it interacted with the public and even won Heath the “One To Watch” award at the convention’s annual costume contest.

Requiring over 100 man hours to construct, the replica weighs 40 lbs (a mere fifth of the one in the movie) and uses two iPads to recreate TARS’ computer readouts. To allow the operator to interact with their surroundings, the aluminum-clad wooden frame includes a camera, LCD screen, audio amplifier, and head set.

Heath lives in Seattle, where he is a full-time LEGO artist and also an editor/contributor for popular LEGO fan blog “The Brothers Brick”. This is his first foray into the world of mechanical cosplay.

Cosplayer Anthony Misiano, also known as Harley’s Joker online, inspired himself from an illustration by DC artist Brian Boland to create this amazing photo which is almost identical to the original piece. Below, you can see another photo featuring Misiano, also inspired by another of Boland’s illustration, “The Killing Joke.” For those interested, both photos are available for purchase as prints via Anthony’s storenvy shop.
