Old Spice Parody: Geek Style (Study like a scholar, scholar.)

Hello, scholars. Look at your grades. Now look at mine. Not back at your grades, now back to mine. Sadly, they’re not like mine…

Just when I thought I couldn’t possibly subject you to another post mentioning the Old Spice ad campaign, I saw this parody featuring the Harold B. Lee Library at Brigham Young University. The effects are fantastic; it has that same all-in-one-shot look of the original. And did you know that 8 out of 5 dentists say that studying in the library is six bajillion times more effective than studying in your shower?

Ryan Reynolds as the Green Lantern

This cover of Entertainment Weekly (their Comic Con preview issue) is one of the first real looks we’ve had at Ryan Reynolds in costume as the Green Lantern for the upcoming film – which isn’t surprising since the costume is mostly computer generated.

So, what do we think? At first glance, the ribbing made me think of one of those anatomy drawing of the human muscular system, which isn’t necessarily a good thing. Some commentators have mentioned Automan. But hey, Green Lantern! Yay!

Is Cameron Frye Actually Ferris Bueller?

While this does tread on sacred ground for me, having enjoyed Ferris Bueller’s day off with my friends and family for years, this mashup by Classy Hands that visualizes the Ferris Bueller Fight Club Theory is extremely  well done. Going off the idea that Ferris Bueller is actually Cameron’s projected alter ego, ala Tyler Durden, we’re treated to some awesome cinematic tricks of editing to turn Cameron into a deluded, angry, schizophrenic.
