Ryan Reynolds as the Green Lantern

This cover of Entertainment Weekly (their Comic Con preview issue) is one of the first real looks we’ve had at Ryan Reynolds in costume as the Green Lantern for the upcoming film – which isn’t surprising since the costume is mostly computer generated.

So, what do we think? At first glance, the ribbing made me think of one of those anatomy drawing of the human muscular system, which isn’t necessarily a good thing. Some commentators have mentioned Automan. But hey, Green Lantern! Yay!

    • I like Ryan Renolds but him as the Green Lantern makes me die inside too.

We need to stop ruining our superheroes and stop making half assed movies about them. Maybe I'm jumping to conclusions. It might be a good movie but I'm a pessimist.

  1. No matter what, it will still be better then X-Men Origins: Wolverine… Now lets hear more about "The New Buffy" as the cover says.

  3. Well if the look, and design of the costume are relevant to the story, I'm willing to let it slide. After all we are referring to a man who uses powers of energy similar to that of the Watchmen's Dr. Manhattan, but I hope the creators of this movie aren't mimicking Dr. Manhattan too closely even though I still think The Watchmen was better than most gave it credit.

I just hope they are able to do something interesting, or very unique with it. I'm very tired of these formulaic super hero movies that are so predictable that its not worth watching.

At least The Watchmen gave me something to think about, other than another big bang-bang at the end.

  5. yea, lose the ribbing. while you're at it, go about saving the day and prancing around half naked. yea.

  7. I have the feeling the ribbing is only more noticeable when he's using his powers, notice how they glow. I imagine a more iridescent green suit when he's just standing around being awesome.

  9. The suit reminds me of the one in Crysis…or Old Snake's one in the end of MGS4, when he got toasted.

I never even read a Green Lantern-comic, but I think that it looks just…WRONG.
