5 Sci-Fi and Fantasy Novel Series That Should Be Put on TV

A great list of 5 novel series that should be turned into television series.  While I agree with this list, the existence of such great original shows as Breaking Bad just makes me wish that maybe we could focus on original programming.

Diamonds Entangled at a Quantum Level

“Recent advances in quantum control techniques have allowed entanglement to be observed for physical systems with increasing complexity and separation distance,” University of Michigan physicist Luming Duan, who was not involved in the study, wrote in an accompanying essay in the same issue of Science.”Lee et al. take an important step in this direction by demonstrating entanglement between oscillation patterns of atoms—phonon modes—of two diamond samples of millimeter size at room temperature, separated by a macroscopic distance of about 15 cm.”

Pay attention, Hollywood: a futuristic comedy, where two guys, totally unlike each other, BECOME ENTANGLED AT A QUANTUM LEVEL.  Slapstick at its finest.

Prejudice Linked to Fear of Disease

This makes a lot of sense, actually.  When you listen to a bigot talk (and living in Oklahoma, you hear lots of those), one of the key words they use to slander the particular ethnic group they are speaking of is “dirty.”  Which really doesn’t make any sense, seeing as how they have just as much access to bathrooms as anyone else.  This study definitely sheds some light on that pesky problem that still haunts us.

Evolutionary psychologists suspect that prejudice is rooted in survival: Our distant ancestors had to avoid outsiders who might have carried disease. Research still shows that when people feel vulnerable to illness, they exhibit more bias toward stigmatized groups. But a new study in Psychological Science, a journal published by the Association for Psychological Science suggests there might be a modern way to break that link.
