BuzzFeed has done an awesome run-down of where some of the actors from Game of Thrones were before they were the wonderful characters of the world weโve come to love (if you didnโt already love it).
Thereโs a few obvies โ Ned (Sean Bean) was Boromir and Osha (Natalia Tena) was Tonks but there are a few ones that surprised me a little. Daenerys looks really weird blond. And I totally didnโt put together that Littlefinger (Aidan Gillen) was from Stuart Alan Jones from Queer As Folk!
I think failing to mention that Jason Momoa was also from Stargate Atlantis and that Natalie Dormer was on the Tudors lets this post down a little. I mean at least that Jason Momoa was on Stargate, cโmonโฆ
A truly interesting one theyโve left out though was that Shae once was a German porn star. Nice step up Sibel Kekilli โ though she did win a few awesome acting awards in Germany before jumping up to Game of Thrones.

According to entertainment magazine Variety, DC has been working on getting their powerhouse superhero team to the big screen. The rumor is newcomer Will Beall has been hired to draft up the screen play. His work includes several episodes of Castle and a film about the Mafia versus the LAPD to debut this year.
After Avengers dominated the box office, it’s no surprise DC will want a hand at that. Green Lantern and the Superman reboot were considered a flop by many fans, with Nolan’s Batman franchise being the only comic film in recent memory that has had success for the company and their parent, Warner Bros.
There’s a lot to be excited about for a Justice League movie. Having a relative unknown work on the script is a risky move. I am really curious to see the short list of directors on tap for the project.
In your perfect movie world, who would you like to see cast as the World’s Finest?

Superhumans with neural implants may belong to the realm of science fiction for now. But the day is fast approaching when technology offers us abilities beyond our wildest dreams (or darker than our worst nightmares). PhD in Robotics and NYTimes best selling author Daniel H. Wilson had a conversation with us to discuss the near future reality of brain implants that make us superhuman.

The Recording Industry Association of America hopes to get a huge amount of money from whatever is left of Limewire. But recent claims that it is seeking “more money than exists in the world” are utterly false.
The numerous recent accounts were based on a now-deleted story at the NME music news site, headlined “RIAA claims it is owed $72 trillion dollars by LimeWire.” It’s not entirely clear how the writer of that piece came up with the figure, other than that it appears to have been based on a hugely faulty calculation method rather than plucked out of thin air.
The suggestion that it is “more money than exists in the world” apparently came from a comparison to the combined GDP of the world’s nations. That’s double misleading. First of all, you can count money in several ways (government issued cash, bank account totals) but none of these have anything to do with GDP, which measures production. Secondly, GDP is an annual not cumulative figure.
That the RIAA did seek a boatload of cash is true, though the correct figures have been known for more than a year. The organization’s claim for damages simply asked for the maximum penalty under copyright law ($150,000) to be applied to every individual download of the copyrighted tracks.
The judge in the case quickly dismissed that suggestion. She didn’t give a precise figure but said the total would likely be billions of dollars and possibly trillions. (There was no mention of anything close to $72 trillion.) The judge did note that using the RIAA’s logic would produce the absurd result of a claim for more money than the entire music industry has ever made from recorded music.
The judge instead said a jury could award damages for each of the 9,175 tracks cited in the case, not for each individual download. That left LimeWire facing damages of between $6.8 million and $1.46 billion depending on the jury’s mood.
In the event, LimeWire agreed to a settlement of $105 million, meaning the decision didn’t go before a jury. Whether there’s any prospect of it paying that money remains extremely questionable.
Another awesome song by Superpowerless, which we’ve already mentioned a few times on [GAS] in the past.
Media outlets are reporting that author Ray Bradbury has passed away. The illustrious author, known for penning Fahrenheit 451, Something Wicked This Way Comes, The Martian Chronicles and many other stories, died in Los Angeles, CA at the age of 91.
I had the honor of interviewing Bradbury years ago. He was an amazing man, congenial and full of wonderful stories. It was also the first time it hit me that I was talking to someone who had shaped my childhood. Fahrenheit 451 is a book almost all kids my age read in school, and set the foundation for me as a writer. His influence was felt most strongly in the world of science fiction, but his works are already a part of our country’s literature legacy.
