Titan, Batman, And Star Wars, Oh My: The Best Week Of Trailers Ever

s

If you are a geek, which you probably are because you are on this site right now, you must still be catching your breath from all the awesome nerd trailers last week. In as long as I have lived my geek life, there has never been a week where as many amazing, geektastic trailers were released in a single week. Seriously. We had superheroes and Jedi and Titans and Terminators. Hell, we even had another Jurassic Park trailer drop and astound us. Rather than sit here and drool excitedly, how about we address each one individually? I will start off with the one that has me the most excited, even though we will be waiting the longest for it.

Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice

Not sure if they planned on releasing this last week, but my personal opinion is, the hype from the Star Wars trailer was at an insane high, and they decided to drop their trailer and take some of that thunder (which, they did IMHO). I will be honest, I wasn’t sure how they would set up the premise of Batman battling Superman, but this trailer did an astounding job of setting up the plot of the movie we have all been speculating about so much.

From how dark it looks to how shockingly good Batman’s (non-armored) suit looks, you can tell this movie is going to be badass with a capital Batman. Though little has been seen of Affleck’s Batman, that trailer shut a good deal of haters up, myself included. Now let’s just hope the actual movie will be as good as the trailer.

Attack on Titan (Trailer 2)

I know a great many of you know how sick, twisted and awesome this anime is, but many Americans have never even heard about Attack on Titan, and just how much of a cultural phenomenon it is overseas. For those unknowing, it is based off an anime of the same name and is exactly what it looks like. There are some titans and they are massive and like to eat people’s heads off, and the people learn how to fight back and try to fend them off.

It’s balls-to-the-wall and batcrap insane, and this trailer seems to capture that magic perfectly.

Terminator: Genisys

I will be honest, I am on the fence about this one. Hell, even the title misspelling drives me nuts. This series has gotten worse and worse, and I cannot help but think the massive plot twist they revealed in the new trailer that dropped last week gave away WAY too much of the important aspects of the film. That twist would’ve floored audiences had they not seen it coming. But now we have and meh.

For those who missed it, SPOILER ALERT, John Connor is bad now and trying to go back in time and kill his own mother to keep himself from being born. Yeah, sounds a little shark jumpy to me. Still will see the crap out of it, though.

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

If you grew up in the 70’s or 80’s and do not get chills from this trailer, you must have lost your soul somewhere along the way. For Star Wars fans, this looks like the movie we have been clamoring for since Empire. From the use of iconic imagery (the dusty, rotted helmet of Darth Vader as one example) to the final line, with Chewie standing with Han on the Falcon, it is exactly what most of us nerds prayed a new Star Wars would look like.

What’s up with that one storm trooper who looks just like Kevin Hart, though?

 Jurassic World

I will admit, huge Chris Pratt fan, but this is the only other one on the list I have some slight hesitancy towards. From the trained raptors who fight for good, to the same exact “giant dinosaur crashing into glass with two kids screaming underneath it” gag, it just has some red flags is all I am saying.

BUT, it is still a movie about dinosaurs eating people, so I will probably see it five times or so. Just expressing some minor nerd concerns is all. And anyone who pulls the “raptors were incredibly smart and probably could be trained” card, save it. I know. I will reserve full judgement until I see the film. Regardless, as with most of the awe-inspiring trailers on this list, this one has me drooling, too.

So which trailer from last week most blew your geek minds? Take to our comments and let us know!
