Crop Circles for Science: NASA’s Space Farm 7

There’s really no connection between a cornfield and NASA. But that hardly matters, really, because these NASA-themed corn mazes are pretty spectacular.

Seven farms across the US are participating in a special collaboration with NASA called Space Farm 7 to celebrate the space agency’s achievements and progress in space, as well as providing education and activities about agriculture. The farmers have created some absolutely amazing and intricate crop-circle-like formations that double as corn mazes, giving kids and families the chance to get lost — if you will — in space.

Best Cake in the ‘Verse? [Pictures]

We don’t know much about this cake, except that it’s an edible model of Serenity and therefore awesome. She’s a mighty fine ship. Erm, cake.

Star Wars Movie Poster Mash-Ups [Picture Gallery]

What do you get when you add Star Wars to any movie, cartoon, or TV series/sitcom? Some interesting Photoshopped mash-ups, where Yoda is a high-school show choir singer and Darth Vader really enjoys blowing up hospitals in Gotham City. This is the challenge Freaking News posed to their readers, and below are some of the entries they received.

Awesome: H.P. Lovecraft for Beginning Readers [Pics]

If you feel like your kids are missing out on the weird tales of one Howard Phillips Lovecraft, deviant DrFaustusAU has the perfect solution: a Seussian rework of The Call of Cthulhu, adapted for verse and very nicely mimicking Dr. Seuss’ drawing style and signature color scheme. We’re not positive this mash-up could be improved, which is saying something because we’re extremely snobby about books over here. (What? ‘Least we’re honest.)

The pages were originally doubled, as you’ll notice if you visit  DrFaustusAU; they’ve been split into individual files here so you can read the text a little more easily.

Introducing HAL on iPhone 4S [Video]

Following the lead of yesterday’s GLaDOSiri spoof, here’s what the iPhone 4S’s Siri might be like if her voice and personality were replaced with those of HAL 9000. We find this version foolproof and incapable of error.

Wake Up in the Morning Feelin’ Like Stormageddon [Video]

A Doctor Who version of Ke$ha’s Tik Tok, but minus Ke$ha. (Can we stop using the $ now? Please??)

does a decent enough job here, and though he falls a little short  of on-key in the chorus, it’s fun if you’re a Whovian. If you want the lyrics, you can find ’em here. Enjoy!

Warning: Spoileriffic lyrics. Do not watch if you haven’t seen season 6.
