The Future Of Toys: Spider Robots

Boys will always be boys. This one simply couldn’t get over the fact that when he was a kid, the toys in the store gave a great song and dance but once you looked in a little deeper, it wasn’t nearly as miraculous as you hoped. So he’s taking it into his own hands.

He’s created these spider robots that walk around like terrifyingly enormous spider monsters and worse – they have the ability to shoot things. Ok, so I’m a bit of an arachnophobe so I don’t think I’d personally want this thing stalking about my house shooting discs at me, but hey – if it’s your thing to have creepy robots that might come alive at night and kill your babies, go right ahead and get into the running to get a free one: wowstuff.co.uk is trying to figure out an awesome-o name for it and will send you one if they choose your name. Send in your fantastically inventive name for these monstrous beings here.

I believe he’s also looking for inspired toy armor designs (yes, spider robots that can shoot at you with EXPLODING ARMOUR – could this get any scarier!?) so if you’re a budding designer you can give that a crack too.

Good luck you lovers of the 8 legs! (Well, they have 6 but they still LOOK like spiders…)

George Lucas Claims Han Didn’t Shoot First In *Original* “New Hope”

Well, this has had my Facebook and Twitter feed abuzz for a hot minute.  So now, George “Jar Jar” Lucas is now making the claim that, in the original “New Hope”, Han Solo did not shoot Greedo first.  Now, this might seem trivial.  Insignificant.  But I implore you: once you tell a story like this, once it infects the populus like a virus, it becomes OURS, not YOURS.  Therefore, you do not have the right to go back and change what you’ve created. It cheapens the original experience and flips the bird to your original fans.

What Happens to a Fire in Space?

Something that looks very pretty when set to gentle acoustic guitars, apparently.

In this video, a fuel droplet is set ablaze then quickly extinguished. Flames are spherical in low gravity since warm, buoyant air can’t rise to propel them. Thirty seconds later, a bright afterglow formed by a backlit vapour cloud spreads throughout the combustion chamber.

A really cool ad promoting the new mobile version of Chrome, which unfortunately (for me!) is only available for Ice Cream Sandwich as of now.

10 Movies and TV Shows Where Everyone Died 5 Minutes After They Ended

I never really thought about how screwed the Ewoks were.  Or for that matter, the Na’avi.  Though I don’t really care about that, because Avatar was awful.  Terminator, though, I always figured they didn’t send a ton of robots back in time due to some idea that maybe that might rip the fabric of spacetime and destroy all life as we know it.  Maybe not.  I like those movies.
