Time Works Differently in the Office [Comic]

time-office

The last frame really represents how time appears to whiz by faster as you grow older. Have you guys ever noticed that? A year now certainly seems shorter than a year when I was just ten. In the end, I think it all boils down to our minds becoming more “busy” as we grow older. We worry more, we’re more stressed. But that’s just a theory of mine.

What do you guys think? Why does time appear to go by faster as we grow older? Let us know in the comments below!

What Happens To Our Bodies After We Die, Flesh, Bones, and All?

Here’s what happens to our body once we die, flesh, bones, and all.

Whatever your beliefs, most people seem to agree that the body left behind when we depart this mortal coil is just a heap of bones and flesh. But what happens to those leftovers? Assuming that nature is left to its own devices, our bodies undergo a fairly standard process of decomposition that can take anywhere from two weeks to two years.

‘Tron’ Lightcycle Up For Auction

tron

Father and son duo Paul and Chris Andrews are car collectors, ranging from the rare to the classic. On May 2, they will be auctioning off a custom replica of the Tron: Legacy lightcycle that was made specifically for them.

96 volt, direct-drive electric motor with lithium batteries and a computer-controlled throttle, rebound and compression damping with spring-preload front suspension and rigid rear suspension, and front and rear hydraulic brakes.

This custom electric vehicle was built especially for the Andrews Collection to recreate the unique motorcycles seen in the 2010 movie Tron: Legacy. It is a highly compelling work of mobile art that has an enduring connection to pop culture.

Early predictions have the light cycle going anywhere from $25,000 to $40,000.

Packing Peanuts Make Power Pack

peanuts

Packing ‘peanuts’ could be used to manufacture rechargeable batteries. Both polystyrene and starch-based versions could be used for separate components.

The idea came from Purdue University’s school of Chemical Engineering where staff recently moved to a new lab and used a lot of packing peanuts to transport and receive delicate equipment.

While both versions of the peanuts can technically be recycled, the very fact that they are so low-density means it’s usually not cost-effective to transport them in bulk to suitable facilities. Instead, Purdue’s Professor Vilas Pol estimates around 90 percent wind up in landfill where both types take decades to break down and release potentially-contaminating chemicals.

Instead Pol and colleagues experimented with heating the peanuts at a high temperature to change their structure. They found that by heating them at between 500 to 900 degrees Celsius in a furnace designed to provide an inert (virtually no oxygen) atmosphere, they created a carbon material highly suited to producing anodes.

Not only did the ‘peanut’ material work as a replacement for the graphite that’s used as an anode in most rechargeable batteries, but the researchers believe it could even be more effective. They say their anodes are around 10 times thinner than in existing commercial batteries and also have a lower resistance, both of which reduce charging time. They also say that their anodes theoretically allow for higher capacities in similarly-sized batteries.

The Purdue tests also found that the peanut packing-based battery could be recharged 300 times without “significant” loss of capacity.

The 9 Weirdest Implications Of The Many Worlds Interpretation

ww

The many worlds theory is astounding, and if you are on the site, you probably already know what it is. Crash course for those who don’t, we are on an infinite web of timelines, where each one plays out differently due to simple variables like decisions and timing. While many people (like ME) like to believe this theory, scientists often find holes (pun intended, get it because the galaxy has black holes) in this theory. i09 is running a really interesting piece today about how some of the fine print included with the many worlds theory has some very strange implications. For example:

If the MWI is true, then there must be a near-infinite (or infinite!) number of versions of you, each of them experiencing the world as individuals separate from and oblivious to each other. Consequently, the sheer volume of alternate life-paths has to be staggeringly large. Since birth, you — or what you think is you — have been branching off into different worlds with each passing superposition. The complete set of “you” is like a massive root system that’s growing exponentially, with each root representing a new timeline.

For me, that only makes it more interesting, to be honest. A bunch of me’s, taking over the universe. Yes please!

“Batman: Arkham Knight” Gets Delayed…Again [VIDEO]

Initially slated for an October 2014 release, Batman: Arkham Knight, the final installment in the Arkham game series, was then moved to June 2, 2015.

Now, Rocksteady Games says they’ve had to push it back three weeks to June 23.

According to Game Director Sefton Hill:

Batman: Arkham Knight will now launch worldwide on June 23, 2015. We’re a developer that hates to make any compromises, so we are sorry to say this means it’s going to be just a little bit longer until you can play the epic conclusion to the Arkham trilogy. As a reward for your patience and understanding, and to make the wait even more unbearable, we are pleased to whet your appetite with a new gameplay video of Batman: Arkham Knight.”

But they released a new gameplay for it, so…that’s something, I guess.

Artist Stephen Byrne Performs Fashionable Makeover on Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman [Pic]

Check out these awesome superhero “makeovers” by artist Stephen Byrne. Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman probably wouldn’t fight hordes of enemies dressed that way, but I’d totally see myself wearing that kind of clothes when going out or at a con.
