A little before “A Nightmare on Elm St. 4: The Dream Master” came out in 1988, Will Smith released this song paying homage to the series. If you listened to the radio back then, you probably heard it all over the place, but the music video was only very briefly made available since it was sampling the original A Nightmare on Elm Street theme without permission.
