Say whatever you like about Bruno Mars, but Leonard Nimoy is great in this video.
This is the official Alternate Version of “The Lazy Song” by Bruno Mars, but I wish it were the only version. Bonus points for showing off his old man legs in those pajamas.
Dale Chance built this pretty cool looking Pip Boy 3000-like arm-mounted iphone dock, which was for sale in his Etsy shop a few days ago. Unfortunately, the “bracelet” is now gone, with none others available as of this date.
Check out this absolutely AMAZING time-lapse video showing an artist at work on what is probably is the most beautiful aerosol mural I’ve ever seen.
End of the Line, in association with Distillery Productions and Toby Summerskill, have filmed the first 3D Graffiti Time-lapse. Created to document the production of a painted promo for Disney’s Tron: Legacy this is the final 2D edit.
This groundbreaking project was filmed in December 2010 and January 2011, in a warehouse in Shoreditch with the exterior shots taken from the rooftops of East London.
Filmed over 4 days, it shows the execution of a 20-metre mural that was painted on huge canvases for installation on Great Eastern Street.
The time-lapse was created using 2 x Canon 5D MK2 cameras and a specially constructed 3D rig provided by Inition.
Be still, my geeky heart. There are lots of things I love, but gadgets and jewelry both hang out somewhere near the top of the list. So when I came across these tech-based jewelry designs, I had to physically restrain myself from spending the down payment for my Virgin Galactic spaceflight on resistor and crystal baubles. I think any lady geek would love these.
I never noticed how bead-like resistors are. This comes with a set of matching earrings, which are also awesome. In case you’re curious, those are 1.5Kohm, 1.5ohm, and .2ohm resistors on soldered wire and chain.
1amp, 3amp, and 6amp diodes strung together with hand-made jump rings.
These are all from Zelle’s 1337 jewelry collection, a high-end line of geek-appropriate necklaces and earrings. I can’t feature them all here, but there are plenty more designs available.
Our final entry in our list of Star Wars remakes represents the perfect combination of geeky obsession with both technology and the movies: the ASCII remake. The clip below is typical of the form, but to get the full green screen effect, check out telehack.com, which is a simulation of what the Internet was like in the pre-web era of the mid-to-late 80s. Just type in starwars and press Enter at the command line for the full movie.
Contrary to published accounts, dogs do not scoop liquids into their mouths with a spoon-shaped cavity that forms in the ventral surface of a backwardly directed tongue tip. As in cats, an aliquot of liquid adheres to the dorsal surface of the tongue tip and is transported into the oral cavity as the tongue is rapidly withdrawn. Video-fluoroscopy recordings indicate that at least three lapping cycles are needed to transport liquid to and through the oral cavity.
Check out this amazing Hogwarts replica cake that was made for the premiere of the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix movie back in 2007. Om nom nom nom.
