Lamest Video Game Mascots Ever

You always hear about the awesome mascots behind your favorite video games – Mario is legend, obviously, and Sonic is doing pretty well for a hedgehog. But I think you can argue that the crappy mascots are far more numerous, so it makes sense that Dorkly has assembled a list of some of the lamest pixelated personas ever created.

What would you add to the list? Am I alone in thinking PaRappa the Rappa was the most ridiculous game ever made? How about Peter Pepper from BurgerTime? Don’t get me wrong, I had an alarming addiction to that game, but Peter Pepper? Slightly lacking.

By the way, who thinks Mr. Incredible is a total ripoff of Blasto?

Cake Boss Makes 2,000-Pound Transformers Cake

Yes geeks, Buddy Valastro, star of “TLC Cake Boss,” made a massive 2,000 pound Bumblebee cake in honor of the New York International Auto Show and the upcoming launch of Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Check it out:

Valastro’s Bumblebee Camaro cake, which took approximately four days to make and was recently displayed in New York, consists of vanilla pound cake with butter-cream frosting. Rice Krispies treats were used to bind the cake at critical flex points.

Ok, I have to admit that technically, he doesn’t really look like a borg in this picture, but who cares, right?

Awesome Metal Covers of Video Game Soundtracks

Argentina based guitarist Ferdk contacted us earlier this week and tried sucking up complimenting us in order to get his videos posted on the site, and well, it worked! Nah, in reality, the only reason we’re posting his stuff is because his metal interpretations of various video game themes are really awesome. Here are just a few, and if you want to hear more, you’ll have to visit his Youtube profile.

Pottermore Promises More Potter, Cowbell

If seven books and eight films (and untold thousands of pages of fanfic) aren’t quite enough Harry Potter for you, then you’re in luck. Pottermore, the site announced by JK Rowling yesterday morning, promises a lot to Potterheads: the series will be available in ebook and digital audio formats for the first time ever; the free site will be “shaped by readers” in some as-yet-unexplained way; previously unreleased information about the Potterverse, short stories and probably exclusive Pottermore merchandise will be available through Pottermore.com. Aside from that, it’s all still rather hazy, but the tease is enough to keep fans anticipating the site’s official launch in October. Watch for update regarding the July 31st entry for a million lucky early subscribers, who will get to check out Pottermore on Harry’s birthday.

Epic Anime Cosplayer Fight [Video]

Anime North 2011 could have been just a regular con experience, but this guy decided to take it all the way into Epicville. Rather than take a bunch of pictures with hot anime cosplayers (not that there’s anything wrong with that), he talked a bunch of people into acting out fight scenes with him.

The video is awesome enough to warrant a “step it up” to Hollywood from Rob Bricken from Topless Robot, who said:

If one guy can make these kind of action scenes with random, obviously non-professional martial artists, on? his computer, I kind of think there’s no excuse for any movie or TV show to have a shitty action scene ever. Ever. Entertainment industry, shape the fuck up.

Word. Check out more from GakAttack (including a blooper reel) on YouTube.
