IMPORTANT: Douglas Lain Blogging for Tor

Douglas Lain, who’s Wave of Mutilation was probably my favorite novel of the last few years (because how can you not love science fiction that manages to make you ponder the significance of “The Monster at the End of This Book”?) is now blogging for Tor.com.  His first post is on Jack Womack’s cyberpunk thriller Ambient and also about the cyberpunk genre in general.

Cyberpunk was a contradictory genre just as the Walker Art Center exhibit was contradictory. On the one hand, it was a genre that criticized and even lamented a society dominated by information technology and multinational capitalism, but on the other it was a literature that understood what it meant to live in a world wherein the financial sector could roam free.

Well worth the read, in fact it’s probably worth bookmarking for the future.

“Super Mario World” for Piano and Tap Dance

My friend and Astoria neighbor Alex MacDonald stopped by to lend his awesome tap dance skills to a stride piano version of the “Super Mario World” theme song. It’s about time that Nintendo, stride piano, and tap dance were combined into one supergroup.

Well geeks, Lindsay is back and is offering us one of the most beautiful Lord of the Rings violin medleys we’ve heard. Also, if you haven’t seen the Zelda violin video, be sure to check it out as well right here.
