HOW TO: Win an Election [Comic]

And this, ladies and gentlegeeks, is how you win an election. Ok, maybe not, but offering a popsicle to everyone that’s part of a nation would be a great start, even if it doesn’t really combat global warming. A defunct Canadian political party called the “Rhinoceros Party of Canada” made some pretty crazy promises when they were running for election in the past few decades.

-Repeal the law of gravity
-Provide higher education by building taller schools
-Ban crappy Canadian winters
-Forget having two official languages; replace with having two official ears
-Count the Thousand Islands to make sure the Americans didn’t steal any
-Tear down the Rockies so Albertans can see the Pacific sunset
-And many more…

The Smokin’ Science of Fire Extinguishers

An interesting presentation that takes a look at the science of fire extinguishers:

Different fuels create different kinds of fires, and each of these fires need to be extinguished using a very specific method requiring a certain class of extinguisher depending on the type of fire you’re dealing with. Water is often not effective enough because some fires just burn just too hotly to be cooled down by the liquid.

WANT: Star Wars Millennium Falcon Micro-USB Charging Cable

This Millennium Falcon charger comes with a 34″ long cord illuminated by a blue light strip that animates when charging. There’s a micro-USB plug built into the front of the ship, and thrusters on the back of the Millennium Falcon light up when you’re charging your device from any standard USB port. Just remember, you cannot use the Falcon to charge the Falcon. You plug this into that Quadex power core, and Rey’s gonna have to fix it again.

South Korean Krispy Kremes Unveil Pokémon Donuts

If you live in South Korea and are a fan of the Pokémon franchise and of donuts, you are in luck, my friend. South Korean Krispy Kremes have just unveiled their new Pokémon donuts shaped like Pikachu, Squirtle, or a Pokéball.

For those interested, you can get a single donut for 1,800 won (about $1.65 USD) to 2,500 won ($2.30 USD.) You can also get a dozen for 15,000 won ($16.30 USD.) Why do we never get anything this cool up here in North America? Decorating a donut to look vaguely like a pokémon is not super complicated after all. I guess we’ll have to do it ourselves then.

Soap Star’s Subtle Star Trek Tribute

British soap viewers who also enjoy Star Trek had a double-take when they saw a character with a definite hint of Captain Kirk in her clothing.

The costume department working on Coronation Street did not intend character Izzy Armstrong’s garb to be quite so out of this world. However, actress Cherrylee Houston noticed the combination of the mustard yellow top and a black layer beneath looked somewhat familiar.

She decided to have a bit of fun by completing the look with a strategically placed brooch and production staff either didn’t notice until it was broadcasted or let it slide.

Futurama’s Zapp Brannigan Reads Stupid Donald Trump Quotes [Video]

So yeah, I promised myself that as a Canadian, I wouldn’t post anything related to the current presidential election in the U.S., but this is just too good not to post. Plus, we’re talking about Futurama here, which makes it pretty geeky. Listen as voice actor Billy West, which performs the voice of Zapp Brannigan in Futurama, reads stupid quotes from Donald Trump.
