LA To Shine The Bat-Signal

The bat-signal will shine in the skies of Los Angeles tonight as a tribute to the late Adam West.

The city’s mayor Eric Garcetti and police chief Charlie Beck will switch on the signal at a public event at City Hall at 9pm. It’s already got its own hashtag, namely #BrightKnight. Fans are invited to attend in costume and the event will also feature surprise “Bat-guests.”

Meanwhile Family Guy will pay its own tribute to West, who was the mayor of the show’s fictional setting of Quahog. Fox will rerun the episode The Dating Game which begins with West winning a castle-themed restaurant in an auction and doing medieval battle with Peter Griffin and pals. A tribute message will air before the show.

The West family has asked fans to donate to two charities, the Adam West Memorial Fund, which supports the St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and Camp Rainbow Gold, which supports children diagnosed with cancer, as well as their families.
