BOOM! Studios clearly has revealed something fresh and innovative with WE ONLY FIND THEM WHEN THEY’RE DEAD #1, a new sci-fi epic tale from celebrated writer Al Ewing (Immortal Hulk), Simone Di Meo (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers) with color assistance by Mariasara Miotti and letters by AndWorld Design. It’s all about one man’s unrelenting quest throughout space to discover the truth—no matter where it takes him, even if it’s in the dead parts of the galaxy.
Captain Malik and the crew of spaceship Vihaan II work to collect resources from the dead giant corpses of alien gods found on the edge of known human space. The story is about the spaceship race to always be the first to salvage the Gods’ meat, natural resources, and metals that preserves the human race. However, Malik sees an opportunity to finally break free from this twisted system by being the first to possibly find a living, breathing god.
WOFTWTD (that’s a mouthful) is a new space adventure and it’s more than welcomed in the Sci-fi genre. Highly inspired by the manga side of comics, the artwork in this book is mesmerizing. “I had been waiting for years to work on my own sci-fi series and Al wrote a story so intense that I couldn’t have asked for anything better,” Di Meo said. “Sci-fi, passion, mystery, and giant gods make these pages an absolute blast to draw.”
WE ONLY FIND THEM WHEN THEY’RE DEAD #1 features main cover art by series artist Simone Di Meo, but many artists share the spotlight with variant covers by Toni Infante (Mega Man: Fully Charged), Christian Ward (Invisible Kingdom), Matías Bergara (Coda), and the fabulous Jenny Frison (Something is Killing the Children). Here are a few of the variant covers for the #1 issue.
