Um, looking closely at that fellow in the upper right of the chart, sure looks like a monkey to me.
Unsatisfying explanation. It should have clarified that humans did not evolve from “modern monkeys”. We did evolve from monkey-like primates, but have since diverged. A better illustration would be our geneology. My parents are still alive, and so are my uncles and aunts; I did not replace them. Humans also did not replace monkeys, evolution does not work like that. If evolution works by replacement, then there would be only one species, the newer replacing the older. No one believes that. It’s a creationist myth.
And don’t get me started with the pan-adaptationism of the infographic. Most evolution is neutral or nearly neutral (think genetic drift).
i do like the explanation, but what kind of super gene make us so different of our monkey cousin.
