Meet the Cast of ‘Neverwhere’!

Neverwhere is my favorite Neil Gaiman book and this March, a stellar cast will be performing it on Radio 4 & Radio 4 Extra over in the UK.

Benedict Cumberbatch, James McAvoy, Natalie Dormer, Sophie Okonedo, and David Harewood will supply the main voices, while the legendary Christopher Lee and Bernard Cribbins will play supporting roles.

Radio 4 describes this version of Neverwhere as an “audio film”. The first installment will air on March 16 and will continue with five, 30-minute episodes the week of March 18.

If only this were an actual BBC Miniseries! *sigh*

    • You may have loved it, but Gaiman… didn’t. It was supposed, from the beginning, to be a script for said series. However, what happened to that script didn’t please him at all, especially Door having to wear a rather horrid parka, while he’d given her a leather coat. He asked why she wasn’t wearing a leather coat, and was told that everyone else already wore one of these. One thing after another, and he decided to write the story as a novel, so people would behave as they should.
So… not entirely a bad thing. If it hadn’t been made that way, there wouldn’t have been a novel, and it might have been mostly forgotten by now.

  1. Whilst it’s not my favorite Gaiman book of all time, this cast definitely makes this project something I’m going to be watching out for. so looking forward to this.

  2. Yes a BBC miniseries of this would be great … and when they are at it… please do a second and a third part to Matrix! That would be cool! Or wait wait … how about a prequel to Starwars!
And I would love to see a real life adaption of Avatar the Last Airbender!

So bad these Movies were never made! They would all bound to be awesome!
I am so happy the at least made LoTR!

  3. Neverwhere is my favorite book, ever. I’ve read it so many times I had to buy a new copy because I broke my old one. James McAvoy is my favorite actor in the world. So you can only guess how excited I am about this. I might die. I mean, this is a real thing that might happen because my heart might not be able to take so much awesomeness in one go.
