R2-KT first came into existence when 501st Legion founder Albin Johnson wanted to create a pink astromech for his daughter who was fighting brain cancer. Now the astromech is part of Star Wars canon, and jeweler Paul Michael wanted to pay homage to the robot by building a R2-KT ring that looks like it.
