Coder Girl: A Nerdcore Ode to Female Programmers

Advertisements

Composed by beatmaker and fledgling coder Dale Chase, Coder Girl is a funny little piece of nerdcore rap that we’d like to dedicate to all the coder girls out there!

A few priceless lines:

  • “Invariably, how would I pass this, when my coder girl gives me root access?”
  • “It always leads to an overflow, when it’s runtime, and we take it slow”
  • “She’s got a data stack that’s straight stunning, no mismatch exceptions or debugging”

Darn! I never thought coder-speak could sound so dirty!

  1. Brilliant! However are there any real coder girls out there? I doubt because I've never met any :-( If you are a coder girl write me!

    • Oh yes, there are coder girls out there. I had a colleague that was a coder girl.

Unfortunately, for a girl to be a coder, she has to be at least as autistic as the average man.

And she was indeed an Asperger's case. Very hard to work with, impossible to socialize with.

She never understood sarcasm or the commonest of jokes.

In fact, she gave me a three day silent treatment because she had misinterpreted a joke I made.

    • I'm not much of a coder girl (used to know Pascal but it's been AGES) but I'm in love with a coder boy that would appreciate this video ;)

  3. If there is 1 female developer per every 7 male, and you figure 30% of those are average or better looking (and I'm not talking office hot here), while 50% of that result are not complete introverts or crazy, and 10% of that result are not already married,,,

Then there are ~1.5 "coder girls" per every 700 male developers?

    • Well I have about 1K coworkers somewhere around me including only one girl. So it's much under the average? I should change my job ;-)

  5. That's awesome.

It's too bad the chick in the video isn't a real coder (not when she's two finger typing like that). She's definitely a cutie, though, and works well in the video.

  7. I agree with U Christopher. I know a girl who come from the first promotion at an engineering school where I was myself this year. So this one has 3 years experience in computer engineering. She doesn't look like strip dancer. Stop watching fast and furious and others transformers with call girls interesting and having know-how in tuning. Computer science requires to be serious, organized and to wear simple dress. A real geek don't care about his or her social life. Computing isn't a thing what people taking it thoughtlessly.

    That's all.

If you want to be a geek, leave Ur(social) life

    • Not really true anymore, I dated a very cute blond after an argument over the placement of curly brackets. She was quite charming with her bucket-list of things she wanted to do. She certainly had a balanced social life too.

To your credit, any major programming endeavor will mandate months (if not years) of isolation in a cave (computer room). But this still does not translate to being socially inept and clueless either. I am perfecting an MC-based isosurface decimation and stitching algorithm for a game I'm working on while still making the women blush anywhere I choose to be.

A real geek is smart enough to realize that balance is important to a successful and happy life. Besides, I'm getting sick of all my programmer buddies hiding at the office on friday night playing board games and Magic the Gathering instead of showing more interest in meeting people. You guys suck.

  9. Can you say old school DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince? This really should be on the radios at #1. It sounds like a real song!

  11. One more thing I would like to say is that instead of trying to fit all your online degree lessons on days and nights that you finish off work (as most people are drained when they return home), try to have most of your lessons on the week-ends and only a couple courses for weekdays, even if it means a little time away from your saturdays. This pays off because on the week-ends, you will be extra rested along with concentrated for school work. Thanks for the different recommendations I have learned from your website.
