Benedict Cumberbatch Reads Rik Mayall’s Hilariously Bitter Band Aid Complaint Letter

From Letters Live:

On November 25th, 1984, dozens of the brightest stars on the British music scene descended upon SARM West Studios in London to unite as Band Aid, a supergroup brought together by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to record the song, “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” in a wildly successful effort to raise money for those suffering in the devastating famine in Ethiopia. The day after the recording session, the Young Ones’ Rik Mayall wrote a letter of complaint to Geldof.

This letter was performed at a special fundraising edition of Letters Live at KOKO in Camden, London, celebrating Benedict Cumberbatch’s new role as a global ambassador for the KOKO Foundation – a registered charity dedicated to changing lives and creating transformative opportunities.

The Last of Us Season 3 Is Official: HBO Renews Hit Series Early

The Last of Us Season 3

HBO isn’t wasting any time — The Last of Us has officially been renewed for Season 3, and Season 2 hasn’t even premiered yet! This early renewal shows just how confident the network is in the hit series, which has gone from groundbreaking video game to award-winning television phenomenon.

Season 1 faithfully adapted the entirety of the original game. Now, as the show prepares to dive into The Last of Us Part II, fans already know the second game’s sprawling story will unfold across multiple seasons — and HBO is clearly all-in.

Series co-creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann shared their excitement in a joint statement:

“The story of Part II, like the first game, is more than a season’s worth of television… HBO has graciously agreed to renew the show for a third season. We are thrilled to be able to continue the story of Ellie and Abby.”

No release date for Season 3 just yet, but with the writers’ room likely already firing up, we may not have to endure another long wait like the two-year gap between Seasons 1 and 2 — delayed by the 2023 strikes.

And with how dense Part II really is… don’t be surprised if Season 4 isn’t far behind. For now, we’ll be watching closely to see where Season 2 leaves off — and where the next emotional punch lands.

Professor Answers Your Supply Chain Panic – With Calm, Wit, and Toilet Paper Facts

Supply Chain Questions

Why are eggs suddenly a luxury item? And why did toilet paper pull a disappearing act like it was trying to avoid taxes? WIRED’s latest episode of Tech Support taps Harvard Business School’s Professor Willy Shih, a man who knows more about global trade than most of us know about our own Wi-Fi passwords, to unravel the mystery of the modern supply chain.

With wit, wisdom, and some seriously eye-opening numbers, Shih digs into everything from tariffs to why bringing manufacturing back to the U.S. isn’t as simple as waving an American flag. Want to know why the country imports strawberries despite drowning in farmland? Blame labor costs: $26.50/hour in California vs. $1.50/hour in Mexico.

Shih turns supply chain chaos into something actually entertaining, explaining how pirates, global ports, and even chicken feed are all messing with your grocery bill.

So if you’ve ever wondered whether we’re deep in a trade war (spoiler: yes) or why your next iPhone isn’t proudly made in America, this is the explainer you didn’t know you needed.

Watch it now — because the global economy is on fire, and you deserve to know why.
