The Beamz – A laser music system that makes you look like an idiot

April 7, 2008 by admin | 7 comments

The Beamz is a laser-based musical system that allows you to play hundreds of different musical instruments by breaking laser beams with your hands. Theoretically, this kind of device could be very cool (like this one), but after seeing the infomercial that was made to promote it, the “coolness” factor surrounding the thing quickly came crashing down, at least for me. If you guys want to see how an infomercial should NOT be done, then check this out.

HI_There
Never mind what you think, the ‘Beamz’ machine is extremely cool. The only thing is, you do not mention how much it will cost

I had a chance to play a prototype and the video definitely doesn’t do it justice. There are several genres besides what’s heard in the video.

FYI, I work with the manufacturer of the beamz, and they are now selling it direct on their website (www.thebeamz.com) for $499.95. You can download more genres/sounds to play from there as well.

The sounds on this thing are attrocious. This is the best you could come up with? No wonder Sharper Image filed for bankruptcy!
