Street Fighter V online players who rage quit look set to be highlighted with a special profile icon. It’s likely to upset those with unreliable internet connections.
The news stems from a post on the NeoGAF forum that claims to show screenshots from an upcoming update. While not yet confirmed as legitimate, they are certainly a well-crafted ruse if not.
The post claims that rage quitters will lose league points and face a temporary restriction on their matchmaking. They’ll also get a special skull icon attached to their profile if they rage quit regularly, while those players who never do so will also get a dedicated icon.
It doesn’t appear as if these icons will restrict matchmaking in system terms. Instead it seems they’ll simply be for information to allow players to decide if they want to avoid rage quitters.
As often happens with rage quitting policies, the real challenge will be setting the threshold so that people who really do quit as a matter of habit are labelled, while those who have less frequent exits caused by internet dropouts aren’t overly penalized.
Capcom has yet to confirm if or when the update will be rolled out.
