Disney Imagineer Builds First Step Towards Actual Holodecks [Video]

This is a video about Lanny Smoot, the first Disney Imagineer to be inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame. The first part tells us all about his career at Disney and some of the inventions he worked on. However, the last part is what is truly interesting. Watch as Lanny introduces us to the HoloTile floor, an omnidirectional “treadmill” that can support multiple people at once. As you’ll see, this could be the first step to a true Star Trek type holodesk experience.
