There’s now a Stranger Things video game and it’s appropriately retro in look.
Available on Android and iOS, it’s a touchscreen controlled over-head view action game with 80s-style pixelly graphics. The gameplay itself is a combination of puzzle solving and combat, with a storyline that’s loosely based on the TV show.
Players start out controlling Chief Hopper, but will unlock another six characters during the game and can then switch between them. Each has a special ability and some areas of the map will only be passable with the appropriate character.
The game is a free download and although the Google Store lists it as supporting in-app purchases, these don’t appear to be in place right now. It’s possible the charging could come into play when additional content is added to the game, which is currently planned for October 27 to mark the return of the Netflix series.
