Red Dead Redemption 2 won’t be showing up until next spring. Makers Take Two say they need more time to make the game as good as possible.
As is often the case with Take Two games, the hype starts way in advance of the game’s release. The first trailer mentionned the game would be released around Fall 2017.
According to the makers, the delay is partly because it’s the first time they’ve produced a game for PS4 and Xbox One completely from scratch rather than revamping an existing title. Despite the original timetable, “some extra time is necessary to ensure that we can deliver the best experience possible for our fans.”
There’ll be more details on the game itself this summer and in the meantime the only new clues come from a series of screenshots. At first glance they don’t show much more than that the game looks beautiful, though some eagle eyed observers have inferred a few possible details:
While the delay has prompted a stoic response among gamers, investors don’t seem too happy. A spring release means there’s a good shot the game wouldn’t appear until after the end of the fiscal year, meaning Take Two’s annual profits could take a hit.
