Women of NASA Lego Set Gets Go Ahead

Lego has confirmed it will be producing a special set commemorating leading female figures in NASA history. The idea came through its Lego Ideas campaign that lets people come up with suggestions, with the company considering those that get more than 10,000 supporters.

The set — which is shown here in concept form — will feature:

  • Margaret Hamilton (developer of the on-board software for the Apollo mission craft);
  • Nancy Grace Roman (planner of the Hubble Space Telescope);
  • Mae Jemison (first African-American woman in space);
  • Katherine Johnson (mathematician who plotted trajectories for the moon landings); and
  • Sally Ride (the first American woman in space).

It’ll be a long development though. Details on a release date and pricing aren’t expected until at least late 2017.
