Dwayne Johnson to Play Black Adam in ‘Shazam’ Movie

For week now, the rumor mill has been circulating that Dwayne Johnson will appear in an upcoming DC movie — heck, even Johnson himself has been fueling those rumors — with the speculation being that he would play either Shazam or Black Adam.

As it turns out, he will play the latter:

Johnson will produce the New Line Cinema film, along with Hiram Garcia. No word on the production date yet or who will play Billy “Shazam” Batson. Darren Lemke (Jack the Giant Slayer, the upcoming Goosebumps) has been tapped to write the script.

In recent issues of the DC Comic, Black Adam “is more of an anti-hero trying to clear his name than a villain,” according to Variety.
