SAD FACE: Tina Fey is NOT Bringing ‘Hocus Pocus’ Sequel to Life…Allegedly

Earlier this week, the Internet flipped out with news that Tina Fey was producing a sequel to Disney’s 1993 classic Hocus Pocus.

I hate — HATE! — to be the bearer of this bad news, but Deadline reports that Fey is attached to an “Untitled Witch Project” that is NOT “Hocus Pocus 2.”

According to Deadline:

The film, currently known as Untitled Witch Project, will be produced by Fey and Cinderella producer Allison Shearmur in what’s described as falling in the vein of Ghostbusters, with 30 Rock Golden Globe winner Fey also attached to star. 

Now, is a sequel to Hocus Pocus absolutely not in the works (yet?) or is Disney trying to throw us off? I hope it’s the latter, but I feel like Disney would want to already generate buzz about a sequel, so…I guess time will tell.
