Tolkien Translation of ‘Beowulf’ to Finally Be Published!

Nearly 90 years ago, Lord of the Rings scribe J.R.R. Tolkien translated the 11th century poem Beowulf. He completed it in 1926, but according to his son Christopher Tolkien, “he seems never to have considered its publication,” The Guardian reports.

Now, with the help of Tolkien and HarperCollins Publishing, Beowulf: A Translation and Commentary will be published in May. Tolkien (son) edited the book and will also include Tolkien’s lectures that he gave on the poem in the 1930s.
