A Live-Action ‘Jem & the Holograms’ Movie is Coming Our Way! [Video]

So, for some reason, I always “chose” She-Ra over Jem & the Holograms (by the way…where is a She-Ra movie?!), but now, the rockin’ girl band is gonna get the big screen treatment.

Jon Chu is slated to direct and I’m not as ‘concerned’ about this as some may be. He helmed G.I. Joe Retaliation and the Justin Bieber music-mentary “Never Say Never,” so regardless of your feelings on Bieber, the guy knows how to film concert sequences (and has respect for the ’80s).

The script, however, is being written by a guy “who has no previous credits on IMDB,” according to The Mary Sue. They also — not surprisingly — plan on modernizing the story to coincide with our “multitasking, hyperlinked social-media age.”

One of the film’s producers is also Scooter Braun, the manager of the Biebs.

HOWEVER — Chu and Braun are allegedly “encouraging Jem fans to provide their input on things like costumes, casting, and just overall feel on JemtheMovie.com.”
