Songwriter Tim Minchin and director Matthew Warchus think so!
The duo most recently brought the beloved children’s book Matilda to the musical theater stage — and to much acclaim. They are currently working with screenwriter Danny Rubin to make the 1993 Bill Murray comedy film a musical, too.
Apparently, back in 2009, Broadway.com reported that musical theater maestros Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine were being floated around as potential collaborators with Rubin, but that has since fallen through.
But, like, seriously…wouldn’t you just need to write a few songs and then just sing them over and over?
What do you think: Would *you* go see a musical version of Groundhog Day?
