How to See Through Concrete Walls [Video]

Like almost all interesting technology, the radar array presented by the MIT students below is being developed for warfare situations–specifically those in urban areas where concrete or stone walls are commonplace. It works well enough to offer a count of people on the other side of a wall, but it can’t show you (yet?) whether said people are bomb-wielding crazies or small children with puppies. MIT: get right on that “not a child and/or puppy” indicator before you send this off for use in urban combat areas, please and thank you.

The ability to see through walls is no longer the stuff of science fiction. Thanks to new radar technology developed at MIT’s Lincoln Laboratory a system has been built by researchers that can see through walls from some distance away, giving an instantaneous picture of the activity on the other side.
