The Witcher 4 just got the kind of update fans have been waiting years for: CD Projekt Red is targeting a 2028 release window. Yes, Ciri’s time in the spotlight is getting closer, but we’re still going to have to wait a while before we can actually step into her boots.
CD Projekt Red says more than 500 developers are working on what it calls its “biggest, boldest, and most ambitious game to date.” That sounds impressive… and also like a pretty good excuse for why we shouldn’t expect to see this thing anytime soon.
And honestly? Take all the time you need! After the launch of Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red knows better than most that releasing a massive open-world RPG before it’s ready can haunt you for years. If The Witcher 4 needs an extra few months to make sure Ciri’s adventure is polished, stable, and worthy as a follow-up to The Witcher 3, I doubt many fans will complain.
