Bethesda may have just pulled off the most ridiculously Bethesda thing imaginable: hiding the name of The Elder Scrolls VI inside Starfield and making us wait three years to notice.
If this is true, Bethesda has officially reached the point where it hides game titles inside other games like it’s running the world’s nerdiest scavenger hunt.
Fans think The Elder Scrolls VI could be called The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel, and the clue may have been sitting in Starfield the entire time.
Remember that weird 16-digit “Employee Number” in Starfield’s character creator? Turns out, if you split it into pairs and convert the numbers to letters using the alphabet, it spells SENTINEL.
S = 19
E = 5
N = 14
T = 20
I = 9
N = 14
E = 5
L = 12
Which is either an incredibly elaborate Easter egg… or the greatest coincidence Bethesda has ever accidentally created.
And now Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has teased an eight-letter word in the title of The Elder Scrolls VI, while former Bethesda developer Michael Kirkbride apparently replied “yep” when someone on Reddit asked if it was Sentinel.
If that’s not confirmation, it’s at least enough evidence to make the conspiracy corkboard very interesting.
Also, Sentinel is a major city in Hammerfell, which would line up nicely with years of fan theories about where The Elder Scrolls VI is headed.
So after Skyrim, Bethesda may be taking us to Hammerfell.
At this rate, we’ll get to play The Elder Scrolls VI sometime around 2047, just in time for someone to discover that Fallout 5’s title was hidden in Sentinel.
