There are two kinds of people in this world: those who see Donkey Kong’s Coconut Gun and think, “That’s a fun video game weapon,” and those who spend four months of their life building one that could realistically send them to the emergency room.
YouTuber No Bitrate proudly belongs to the second group.
His first attempt is a giant hollowed-out log powered by actual gunpowder, a design that’s about as safe as it sounds. It technically works, but it’s also one bad day away from turning into a very expensive wooden grenade. So he goes back to the drawing board and builds a second version powered by compressed air, hidden inside a beautifully 3D-printed wooden shell.
The result? A game-accurate Coconut Gun that fires real coconuts with terrifying effectiveness. It performs so well that it cleanly removes the top of a ballistics dummy’s skull, proving once and for all that the DK Rap wasn’t exaggerating: “If he shoots ya, it’s gonna hurt!”
Nintendo gave Donkey Kong a coconut launcher. This guy gave it OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) violations.
