Some cosplay ideas start as a joke… and then spiral gloriously out of control.

That’s exactly what happened with Jeracosplay, a Nashville-based professional cosplayer and costumemaker, who brought this amazing mashup to life at Dragon Con 2023. Imagine the iconic sandworm from the Dune universe, and then add a bunny girl twist.

Dubbed “Shai Hulud’s secret bunny hutch,” the costume is packed with clever details, from stillsuit-inspired accessories to over 200 hand-cut foam scales covering the hood, corset, and tail. And those terrifying teeth? Fake grass.

The result is equal parts absurd and impressive, and it even earned her 2nd place at the Bunny Hutch contest. Not bad for something that started as a “what if” joke.

Honestly, the only real mystery left: where do you even store a sandworm bunny outfit?
