If there were an award for “Most Starfleet Appearances Without Anyone Realizing It’s the Same Guy,” it would permanently belong to Jeffrey Combs.
This awesome Christmas song, titled “Here Comes Jeffrey Combs,” sets his legendary Star Trek résumé to the tune of Here Comes Santa Claus, and yes, it’s as gloriously specific as it sounds. Combs has played nine different characters across four Trek series, often buried under enough makeup to qualify as a new species each time. One episode he’s a Vorta, the next he’s an Andorian, then suddenly he’s a Ferengi trying to ruin Quark’s day.
For the record, those four shows are Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Enterprise, Star Trek: Voyager, and Star Trek: The Next Generation, which means Jeffrey Combs has basically been haunting the corridors of Starfleet since the ’90s like a very talented, very quotable Christmas spirit.
So pour yourself some raktajino, hum along, and remember: when it comes to Star Trek character actors, Jeffrey Combs doesn’t just come down the chimney, he comes in several disguises, each with its own prosthetics budget.
