With The Game Awards coming up soon, it seems the teasers have started early. Case in point: Geoff Keighley, patron saint of world premieres and awesome shoes, dropped a cryptic tweet featuring a mysterious image and just three strange words. Turns out those words were a What3Words location tag, and they pointed straight to… the middle of the Joshua Tree desert?
Naturally, gamers being gamers, people grabbed their keys, snacks, and headed out to investigate. What they found? A massive, eerie, beautifully crafted statue rising out of the sand like someone modded the American Southwest into a nightmare DLC. Clearly, it’s teasing some kind of big reveal for The Game Awards… but what?
Journalist Jason Schreier already crushed the top contenders: it’s not Diablo, not God of War, and not Elder Scrolls. Doom feels like the obvious bet based on the Hellraiser décor, but hey, this is TGA season. Anything can happen. It could be a new IP. It could be something we forgot existed. It could even be… Bloodborne 2?
Whatever the truth is, we’ll know soon. Grab your popcorn: the speculation ritual has officially begun!
