Why does English have a word like defenestration (the act of throwing someone out a window) but no commonly used term for “the day after tomorrow”? Why do phrases like “you are the s**t” and “you ain’t s**t” mean totally different things while both somehow still function as insults or compliments depending on the vibe?
Welcome to the English language: where logic takes a vacation and context is everything.
