Game of Thrones Comes To Postage Stamps

Brits no longer need to send a raven to get their Game of Thrones delivery fix. A new range of postage stamps celebrate characters from the show.

The United Kingdom stamps are valid to use and act as standard first class postage (that is next-dayish delivery for standard letters). However, they are also designed as collectors items.

The range covers 15 designs, of which 10 are characters past and present (Jon Snow, Cersei Lannister, Eddard Stark, Arya Stark, Olenna Tyrell, Sansa Stark, Tyrion Lannister, Jaime Lannister, Tywin Lannister, Daenerys Targaryen) and five are non-human (the Iron Throne, The Night King with White Walkers, The Direwolves, the Giants, and the Dragons.)

As well as the stamps themselves, which come in various combinations, you can get collector folders, stamp books and framed sheets of stamps. Obviously it’s a revenue generating idea, but the official explanation is that it celebrates the UK’s ‘significant’ contribution to the show’s production, particularly through filming in Northern Ireland.

As with all British issued stamps, each design bears a silhouette of the Queen’s head, confirming that on these shores at least, Elizabeth II takes precedence over Cersei.
