9-Year-Old Applies for NASA’s Planetary Protection Officer Job; Gets Response

A few days ago, we wrote about how NASA posted a job offer asking for a “Planetary Protection Officer.” The position requires that the person applying has the ability to help “keep Earth safe from organic or biological material from other planets and bodies, and vice versa.”

A 9-year-old named Jack decided that this job was the right one for him, and decided to apply.

His letter was posted online and then eventually reached NASA’s director of planetary science division, Dr. James L. Green, who replied:

The moral of the story? Study hard and do well in school, and one day, you might end up working at NASA… unless you’re like me and are already too old for this! ;)
