Flashback from the Past: An Adlib Sound Card Ad from the 80s [Video]

Back in the late 80s, there was 2 ways your computer could output sound: Through the PC speaker, which made games sound horribly bad, or through a sound card, which brought up sound quality quite a bit. Here’s an ad for one of the first sound cards to hit the market: The Adlib Sound Card.

I still remember the wonder I experienced after installing this card and then firing Sierra’s King Quest for the first time. The sound that came out of my external speakers amazed me beyond belief. And then the Sound Blaster line of cards came out a few years later, causing Adlib to file for bankruptcy in 1992.
