Gotham is go!

Fox just announced today that they will order “at least” 13 episodes of the Batman prequel series, Entertainment Weekly reported.

Now, the show already had a “series commitment,” which meant that if Fox didn’t order a full season, they would have to pay a penalty. But now we know FOR SURE — although, greenlighting the show for at least one season is probably not much of a surprise. Comic book-based entertainment are hot commodities these days.

Back in March we showed you some of the character posters for the new series, which stars Ben McKenzie (The OC, Southland) as a young Detective Jim Gordon, and Donal Logue (L&O: SVU, Copper) as his mentor. It is scripted by Bruno Heller, creator of The Mentalist and Rome.

BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE: There’s rumor of a Gotham trailer debuting tonight during Fox’s premiere of the 24 miniseries!

Edit: And here’s the first trailer!
