Could We Soon Pay For Goods with Just the Palm of Our Hands? [Video]

The pattern of veins in the human hand is unique to everyone on Earth — like fingerprints — except it can’t be forged.

Fredrik Leifland realized this, and while studying engineering at Lund University in Sweden a few years ago, “he got the idea to use vein-scanning for point-of-sale payments,” according to PC Magazine.

His ‘Quixster’ invention is now used by 1,600 people and 15 stores and restaurants on and near the Lund University campus.

“We had to connect all the players ourselves, which was quite complex — the vein scanning terminals, the banks, the stores and the customers. The next step was finding ways of packaging it into a solution that was user friendly,” Leifland said.
