Crossplay is dressing as an opposite sexed character. This IS NOT crossplay. This is genderbending. Making the character the opposite gender they usually are.
If this was a girl dressed a male assassin then it would be crossplay. This so called "geek" website should know the difference.
Wow…let's nitpick on the usage of words here. Why on earth would a "geek" site know the difference any more than anyone else? Is there an ironclad definition of what is and isn't crossplay set down by the Geek Gods somewhere? Cripes, man…pick a better thing to get irate about…
There is a difference and yes a site's poster like this should know the difference. As you can see someone already asked about it and they were informed wrong. All because this was mislabeled.
There is an issue with transgender representation not just in the cosplay sense but as a whole. It''s a misrepresentation of an entire group of people.
Unless there is a male Assassin character that dresses like this, and correct me if I am wrong, this is not crossplay. It's a nice outfit, yes. But not crossplay per se.

However in the case of Assassin's Creed, you eventually respark the brotherhood and recruit other assassins to your cause (who dress like the main character) and some of them are women – so this is not necessarily cross
