Bunch of bull, Facebook is a communication tool, just as is the telephone, text messaging, email, and snail mail. Most people haven't learned how to integrate it properly into their lives. As a tool, Facebook should enhance your interactions with friends and family, not be the only mode of communication. I wonder if anyone ever said, "I'm going to stop using the telephone because it takes away from me meeting face-to-face with my friends."
If you aren't happy with your relationships, feeling like Facebook has impaired your communication, perhaps instead of blaming Facebook and quitting to "relearn communication", perhaps you should "relearn how to use Facebook."
