OMG: First Official StarCraft II TV Commercial

Oh. My. God.

This is going to be awesome.

Yeah, yeah, you don’t have to tell me. I know it’s a pre-rendered animation… but I don’t care! It’s going to be awesome anyways!

Wait for it: July 27th, 2010.

  1. Wow, so, Space Marines vs. Tyranids vs. Eldar this time. Sorry, but with Warhammer40k (minatures), not to mention Games Workshop, being older than Blizzard, and Warhammer40k Dawn of War 1 and 2 being so popular now, I wonder if people who aren't fans of the game from the "old days" won't see it as such. Not to diminish the idea that its storyline and gameplay could still be awesome, but it's been 12 years since StarCraft was launched. I know WoW has taken up much of their resources, and it's obvious they've worked hard on the game. My main worries are that it will look like they're trying to keep up with the Joneses, who moved in down the street not long ago, or that, like so many games in the past (in general, not Blizzard's in specific), it will have amazingly brilliant cinematics with decent scripts only to have lousy, sometimes buggy game play with little connecting story or super easy missions and tactics.

This isn't to say I'm not interested, but I am skeptical. Maybe they should be looking into a Universe of StarCraft next, if this is any good.

    • I don't know anything about the story, but if you watch some gameplay footage, you'll see that it's still the same solid rts gameplay. It'll probably be the equivalent of Warcraft II evolving to Warcraft III.

    • Blizzard is still known among geeks as one of the best game makers in history. None of their games since the first Warcraft has been anything but a smash hit.

From having played the beta and read most of the preview info available, I can pretty safely say this will hold true for SC2.

It is indeed going to be OMFG EPIC!
